Sermon on the Mount: Kingdom Values for the 21st Century

10 September – 1 October 2022 (4 Saturdays, 10.00am – 12.00pm)
Revd Peter Chen & Mrs Rosalind Chen

As people belonging to God and citizens of God’s Kingdom, we are called to be the light that shines for those who live in the darkness of sin. We are expected to be different from the world, different from the irreligious and also the religious.

There is no salvation without transformation and sanctification. Our speech, thoughts, conduct and actions must reflect who God is; His holiness, righteousness and love. In the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5-7), Jesus clearly sets out the value-system, the ethical standard expected of all believers.

The course will look at the purpose of Jesus’ teachings and the relevance of His moral expectations in this time and age. It will examine the distinction between true and false spirituality, Jesus’ warnings against self-righteousness, the need to cultivate persevering trust in God, the secret of Christian joy and how to defeat temptation.

Intimacy with God: Creating Space for God, Communing with Him

13 – 27 August 2022 (3 Saturdays, 10.30am – 12.30pm)
Pastor Stanley Tay

God desires and invites us to a lifelong, intimate relationship with Him. Our response to this invitation to walk in intimacy with Him requires us to learn the habits of creating sacred space for Him and to commune with Him meaningfully.

The course teaches participants to learn and to practice the various spiritual disciplines of listening, scripture meditation, silence, solitude, journaling, etc. Time will be given for personal reflection and contemplation.

We pray each participant will come away from the course desiring more of God, motivated to continually create space for Him and to enjoy communing with Him daily.
