First of all, I praise the Lord for all of you who have volunteered in one way or another, whether physically there or being in prayer, for the 19th Annual Medical Sunday on 2nd Nov 08 for the community. We are very grateful to the medical support given by Church Of The Ascension (1st time), Care Corner (1st time) as well as SATA (2nd time). Chapel of the Resurrection would have gladly supported us had it not been for their services which run Sunday afternoons. It is a joy to have the 3 churches working together and other organisations supporting the work. The greater turnout on all fronts - volunteers and residents (young and old) and the smoother processes (medical and carnival) testify one thing - the Lord's favour is upon us! So, the question beckons "What's next after Medical Sunday?". Well, it can be 'pause until 2009' or it can be 'push to do more'. The Lord has impressed upon my heart to 'push to do more', ie. I sense the building of relationship with the PP residents can and should take on a new level of trust after Medical Sunday. I am recommending that we go out in teams of 2 or 3 to make house visits to those residents who came for the free health screening or carnival. Lets bring a message of Christmas to them. Lets invite them to attend the SAV Christmas Celebration on Sunday 21st Dec 08 at St Andrew's Secondary School entrance. Lets tell them about God's love through our act of love to them. More details will be released soon including training. On national level, there's a concerted evangelistic outreach called "My Hope Singapore" organised by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Suffice for me to say for now that I am hoping there will be a few members of CHS who will open their homes to invite their friends or relatives to celebrate Christmas. More details will be released soon, too (including training). Are we doing too many things that may lead to burnout? We will be if we are doing everything on our own strength. But as the Lord has promised that Christ will strengthen us and His grace is sufficient for us as we serve Him, we will know how much to handle. Evangelism, indeed, is hard work but it is nothing compared to work our Lord Jesus Christ did for the whole world. His servant saved by grace, pastor michael |
